Welcome to AbyFabylous Abyssinians.  AbyFabylous is my breeder prefix registered with The Governing Council of the Cat Fancy (GCCF) – the premier cat registration organisation in the UK.    I am registered on the GCCF Breeder Scheme and abide by their rules and guidance.

Aby is used by the GCCF as the abbreviation for the breed reference, 

Fabylous a play on words, reflecting how absolutely fabulous Abyssinians are. 

Abyssinians hold a very special place in my heart;  they are incredibly loving, characterful, and companionable. My focus is to continue the excellent breed lines I have known, and loved, over many years.  

I first became aware of Abyssinian Cats from looking through a cat encyclopaedia way back in the seventies; I didn’t get any further than the letter “A” falling in love with the sleek profile, warm colour and alert look of the Abyssinian.  

My husband sought out my first Abyssinian kittens, who at that time were local to us.  We excitedly visited one breeder, as her Queen, Annera Undine,  was going to stud, we then waited not only for the kittens to be born, but also for our kitten to become old enough to come and live with us as a pet.  

I learned much later that the stud boy had only recently arrived in the UK.  Feline Leukaemia virus had infected and significantly reduced the number of breed cats in the UK, limiting the gene pool.  The Abyssinian breeders worked together, reimporting a handful of some very special Abyssinian Cats from lines which had previously been exported from the UK.  One of these, Bastis Ashanto, was to be the Sire of my second Abyssinian, Calderon Yuan - his litter sister, Calderon Yasmina, was to become a Breed Queen.   I have had several other Abyssinians over the years, all characterful, companionable, incredibly loving, and memorable.  

My breed focus is to breed Abyssinians from pedigree lines which feature the pedigrees of my original pet Abyssinians in the mid 1980's; balanced with as low co-efficiency as possible and complying fully with GCCF Breeding Policy.
